Little White Dress

When we think about wedding dresses, we automatically imagine long, white veil, embroidered gowns. These dresses have infinite variations and silhouettes: Mermaid, Princess Gowns, Strapless, Backless among many others.

Even though the vast majority of women choose long dresses for their wedding day, some outrageous and bold women have chosen to innovate the conception we have of the classic bride throughout history. Their favorite silhouette? Short wedding dresses.

Going back to the 1960s we can appreciate some iconic designs worn by some of Hollywood most emblematic women. Starting in the year of 1968, American actress and model Sharon Tate married movie director Roman Polanski on January in the city of London. The chosen dress for the occasion, despite being winter, was a short white babydoll by American designer Alba.

Only one year after Audrey Hepburn married Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti in Switzerland. For sure, the dress chosen by the actress still is one of the most iconic wedding dresses worn in history. Designed by Givenchy, Hepburn wore a long sleeve, funnel necked minidress. Not only innovative by its design, the dress was made with pale ballet pink fabric, which was styled with pairing gloves and headscarf.

Moving forward to 1990s, Cindy Crawford chose a simple John Galliano slipdress for her barefoot beach wedding to Rande Gerber. Decided not to have a walk down the aisle ceremony, Cindy chose to walk alongside her husband at the beach and celebrate in their own special way.

Chiara Ferragni, one of the world’s most influential fashion bloggers, married to Italian singer Fedez back in 2018. The ceremony was divided into two parts and the party was held at Fedez and Chiara’s own amusement park. Chiara wore a princess gown signed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, current creative director at Dior. The personalized haut couture dress had its skirt taken out for the party, turning into a mini ballerina taffeta wedding dress.

One year later, Hailey Baldwin, now Mrs. Bieber, married to Justin Bieber. The it girl decided to wear a Vivienne Westwood mini dress for the pre wedding rehearsal dinner. Custom made, the attire was created with ecological silk classic with corseted design.
